This engagement session was a long time coming! I’ve known Melissa since elementary school. We became best friends when we joined the same field hockey team in middle school. And when Melissa started dating Alex, I started waiting for an engagement announcement. That finally happened, and then our original session date got rained out. Since both of us traveled to Harkness State Park for the engagement session from different states, we had to wait a few months for the re-scheduled date. But here we are!
I just love Melissa and Alex’s engagement story so much! Sometimes we have the best intentions, but things still don’t go to plan. Luckily for Alex, he still heard a “Yes!” at the end.
Melissa and Alex met in college and began their relationship around the time of their graduation. After four years of dedication and love, they were sure that their relationship has what it takes to last. So, Alex bought a ring, made a plan, and set out to create a special day for Melissa…which is where things take a turn.
In Alex’s mind, they were going to have a picnic at a park not far away from their home. But when they got there, they realized that the park wasn’t exactly designed for picnicking. So, they drove to a slightly more private location and began eating their lunch in their car.
At this point, Alex tried to start proposing, but Melissa quickly realized what was happening. She wanted Alex to propose to her on one knee, so she promptly kicked him out of the car, told him assume the position, and then allowed him to continue. So, it wasn’t the picnic that Alex planned, but at the end of the day there’s still two sweethearts that are getting ready to say “I do,” so it all worked out.
Melissa and Alex–I simply cannot wait for your wedding next year! I am so excited to cheer for you! For everyone else, I hope you enjoy this gorgeous Harkness State Park engagement session!
