There’s something timeless about a Cape Cod wedding. The sound of the waves in the background, the salty breeze in the air, and the way the light bounces off the water… it all sets the stage for moments that feel both elegant and deeply personal. As a Cape Cod wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of documenting celebrations along the Cape’s shoreline.
Erin and Matt’s wedding day was one of those unforgettable stories where the beauty of the location was matched only by the beauty of the people.
Their wedding wasn’t about extravagance or perfection. It was about love; about two people choosing one another, blending their families, and celebrating with joy even when the weather didn’t quite cooperate.
Erin and Matt’s story is one of resilience, authenticity, and laughter, and I think it perfectly captures why Cape Cod weddings hold such a special kind of magic.
There are countless reasons couples are drawn to Cape Cod for their wedding day.
The Cape offers miles of shoreline, each with its own character—sunset-drenched beaches, charming harbors, and sweeping coastal views that serve as a naturally romantic backdrop.
For Erin and Matt, the water was more than just scenery. Their ceremony unfolded just steps from the shore, with the ocean stretching out behind them.
Guests fanned themselves in the summer heat, but there was an unmistakable energy in the air. You could feel it: this was exactly where their love story was meant to be sealed.
Cape Cod waterfront weddings strike this rare balance between relaxed and refined.
You get the ease of sandy toes and sea breezes alongside the timelessness of vows exchanged against one of New England’s most iconic landscapes. It’s the kind of setting that doesn’t require anything extra. The view alone holds enough beauty to carry the day!
Weddings, at their best, are mirrors of the couple’s values.
Erin and Matt’s day wasn’t about showing off or chasing trends. It was about love that had already stood the test of time. Both Erin and Matt brought children into their relationship, so this wasn’t just a marriage of two people but the beginning of a new blended family.
That theme of togetherness shone through every detail.
Instead of worrying about the weather (which, let’s be honest, was hotter than anyone expected), Erin and Matt leaned into laughter.
They smiled through the sweat and embraced the imperfections, proving that the best weddings aren’t about flawless execution but about being fully present with the people who matter most.
As I photographed their day, I couldn’t help but notice how their joy rippled outward.
Guests were relaxed, kids were giggling, and there was a collective sense of gratitude that they all got to be part of something bigger than just a ceremony.
One of the sweetest moments of the day came thanks to Erin’s dog, Lola. She is more than a pet. She’s part of the family, and it was important to Erin that Lola had a role in the wedding.
As Erin and Matt shared their first kiss as husband and wife, Lola trotted over and joined them right at the center of the aisle. Guests erupted with laughter and “awws,” and the photos from that moment are some of my favorites of the entire day. It was perfectly imperfect and absolutely unforgettable.
If you’re considering including your pup in your Cape Cod wedding, here are a few tips I’ve learned as a photographer:
Cape Cod’s open spaces and breezy coastlines make it especially pet-friendly. Whether it’s a sandy ceremony or a few portraits at golden hour, having your dog alongside you can add an extra layer of meaning and joy.
One of the things I love most about Cape Cod weddings is how they lend themselves to authenticity.
You don’t have to force anything—the scenery, the light, and the emotions are already there. My role as a photographer is to make space for those moments and document them in a way that feels true to the couple’s story.
For Erin and Matt, that meant capturing both the big milestones and the subtle in-betweens: Erin’s laughter as Matt brushed a strand of hair from her face, the way their kids leaned into them during portraits, and yes, the dog stealing the show during the kiss.
These are the kinds of moments that become heirlooms, because they’re not staged. They’re real.
When couples hire me as their Cape Cod wedding photographer, I always tell them: my goal isn’t just to give you pretty pictures.
My goal is to help you feel seen, supported, and celebrated. The images are a reflection of that experience: timeless, heartfelt, and infused with the emotion of the day.
Cape Cod has long been one of New England’s most beloved wedding destinations, and it’s easy to see why.
Beyond the beaches and lighthouses, it’s a place where history and romance intertwine. You can host an intimate seaside ceremony like Erin and Matt did, or plan a grand celebration at one of the Cape’s iconic resorts.
But what sets Cape Cod apart isn’t just the scenery. There’s something about the Cape that invites you to slow down and savor.
The sunsets linger, the ocean sparkles a little brighter, and the whole experience feels like it exists slightly outside of time.
For couples who want a wedding that balances elegance with ease, Cape Cod is hard to beat.
It’s as perfect for down-to-earth celebrations centered on family as it is for chic, magazine-worthy affairs. That versatility is what makes it such a dream location for weddings of all kinds.
Erin and Matt’s wedding day was a reminder of what truly matters: not the weather, not the details, but the love that brings people together. Their blended family, their easy laughter, and their joyful resilience created a day that was every bit as beautiful as the Cape Cod backdrop.
For me, as their photographer, it was an honor to document not just the aesthetics of a Cape Cod waterfront wedding, but the soul of it.
I love the candid glances, Lola’s cameo, the moments of connection that will echo for years to come.
