One of the things I love most about a Larz Anderson Park wedding is how many different settings are tucked into one beautiful property. The willow trees and water bring softness and romance to portraits, while the tempietto and surrounding architecture add a more classical feel. As the light changes throughout the evening, the park gives us plenty of variety without requiring a wedding day to revolve around taking photographs.

For Yan and Adam, the setting was only one part of what made their celebration meaningful. They thoughtfully blended Chinese and American traditions throughout their day, from their emotional ceremony and personal vows to a reception centered around honoring their families and spending time with their guests. Their wedding was beautiful, but what stands out even more years later is how clearly their photographs show the people who mattered to them.

That's always the balance I'm looking for when I photograph a wedding. I want to create romantic portraits that make you wonder whether you somehow wandered into the pages of a magazine, but I never want those photographs to come at the expense of experiencing your wedding. I'll guide you when beautiful posing, flattering light, or a little direction will make the photograph better, and I'll step back when the moment unfolding in front of me is already better than anything I could have created.

A setting like Larz Anderson Park gives us an incredible backdrop, but ultimately, the location isn't what makes wedding photographs worth keeping. It's the people within them. My goal is to preserve both: the beauty you so carefully chose for your celebration and all of the emotion, relationships, and tiny moments that made the day yours. Those are the photographs that become more meaningful as the years go by.
