Some engagement sessions feel meaningful from the very beginning. This one felt personal long before I ever picked up my camera.
I’ve worked alongside Morgan since 2020. We’ve second photographed weddings for each other over the years, survived long wedding days together, swapped stories during lates, and celebrated each other through so many seasons of life. Somewhere along the way, coworker quietly became one of my closest friends.
So when Tyler proposed and they asked me to photograph their engagement photos, I was deeply honored.
I still remember hearing about Tyler when they first started dating. Then I finally met him while photographing Morgan’s best friend Abbe’s wedding at Bedford Village Inn. Morgan was a bridesmaid that day, which meant I already knew she would be effortless in front of the camera. But meeting Tyler made everything click into place.
He’s calm, laid back, and endlessly patient with Morgan in the sweetest ways. More importantly, he keeps her laughing constantly. If you know Morgan, you know that laugh is one of the best sounds in the entire world.
Even Morgan’s twin sister Kelly and her mom absolutely adore him. Honestly, I think I knew Tyler was the one before Morgan fully did. At one point during wedding festivities, Tyler slow danced with Morgan’s mom without a second thought. It was such a gentle and natural moment. One of those tiny interactions that tells you everything about a person’s character.
A few weeks before the proposal, I even had a dream Tyler proposed to Morgan. I told her about it jokingly afterward and thought nothing of it.
Turns out, apparently my subconscious had insider information.
Southern New Hampshire is honestly such an underrated area for engagement photos.
You still get that classic New England charm couples love, but many locations feel quieter and more relaxed than busy city spots. There’s also an incredible variety within a short driving distance. You can find elegant inns, wooded trails, open fields, lakes, mountain views, and charming downtown areas all within the same region.
For couples traveling from Boston or the North Shore, southern New Hampshire also feels accessible without needing a full weekend trip. It gives you beautiful scenery while keeping the session experience low stress.
As a New England wedding photographer, I especially love how versatile New Hampshire becomes through every season. Summer feels lush and romantic. Fall is obviously stunning because New England likes showing off. Winter sessions can feel cozy and cinematic. Spring brings soft greens and flowering trees without some of the heavier city crowds.
It’s a really beautiful option for couples wanting engagement photos that feel timeless, relaxed, and connected to nature without hiking a mountain for three hours first. Important distinction.
If you’re planning your own New Hampshire engagement photos, these are a few locations I’d personally recommend for a romantic and elevated feel.
This location feels refined while still being warm and inviting. The grounds photograph beautifully through multiple seasons, and it’s especially perfect for couples wanting a more elegant New England atmosphere.
Perfect for couples wanting coastal New England charm with gardens, waterfront views, and walkable scenery.
One of my favorite options for couples wanting ocean views without committing fully to a beach session. The rocky coastline feels classic and timeless.
It’s important to note that a professional photography permit is required for this location.
If you want mountain views and dramatic scenery, this location is stunning. Especially during peak fall color.
Portrait sessions require prior approval from the management.
Honestly, some of the best engagement sessions happen in simpler locations. Soft fields, tall grass, tree lined paths, and quiet backroads can photograph beautifully when the light is right and the couple feels comfortable together.
That relaxed feeling matters more than couples often realize.
The best engagement session outfits feel elevated without feeling overly formal.
For New Hampshire engagement photos, I usually recommend soft neutral tones, movement in fabrics, and outfits that fit naturally with the environment around you. Long dresses photograph beautifully in open fields and wooded locations because they create softness and movement while still feeling timeless.
Layers also help a lot during New England sessions. Temperatures can shift quickly, especially during spring and fall evenings.
Most importantly, wear something that still feels like you.
Your engagement photos should feel beautiful ten years from now, but they should also feel honest to this season of your relationship right now.
Photographing Morgan and Tyler together felt easy in the best possible way.
They’re deeply comfortable with each other. There’s no performance when they’re together. No trying too hard. They just naturally settle into each other’s space.
Morgan has photographed enough weddings to know how awkward photos can sometimes feel at first for couples. Ironically, she and Tyler made everything look effortless.
Most of the session was spent laughing.
Tyler has this calming presence that balances Morgan perfectly. She brings warmth and energy everywhere she goes, and he meets her with this steady kindness that makes everyone around him feel comfortable immediately.
Watching them together honestly reminded me why engagement photos matter so much.
Yes, the images are beautiful. Yes, they become part of your wedding story.
But engagement sessions also freeze this very fleeting season of life. The anticipation and excitement before marriage. The quiet confidence of choosing each other before the wedding day officially arrives.
And getting to document that for one of my closest friends was incredibly special.
I already know their wedding day at Danversport next year is going to be emotional in the very best way.
If you’re planning engagement photos in New Hampshire, I help couples with far more than just showing up with a camera.
Together, we choose locations that fit your personalities, preferred scenery, and overall vision for your photos.
I also help guide timing, outfit planning, lighting decisions, and how to create a session that actually feels relaxed instead of stiff or rushed.
Southern New Hampshire fits naturally within my regular travel area as a Boston and Cape Cod wedding photographer. I’m always happy to travel farther north as well, though farther locations may include travel fees depending on distance.
At the end of the day, the goal is simple.
I want your engagement photos to feel like you. Thoughtful. Joyful. Romantic. Comfortable.
The kind of images that still feel meaningful decades from now when your future family flips through them together someday.
And honestly, that never gets old for me.

New Hampshire is beautiful year round, but each season creates a very different feel. Summer sessions are lush and green, fall brings classic New England foliage, spring feels soft and romantic, and winter sessions can feel cozy and elegant. I typically recommend scheduling your session about 6 to 12 months before your wedding.
Southern New Hampshire has so many beautiful options for engagement photos. Some favorite locations include Prescott Park, Odiorne Point State Park, and Bedford Village Inn. I also love quieter field and wooded locations for couples wanting a more relaxed and natural feel.
Yes. Many spots in southern New Hampshire fits naturally within my regular service area as a Boston and Cape Cod wedding photographer. I’m also available for sessions farther north in New Hampshire, though additional travel fees may apply depending on the location.
I recommend outfits that feel timeless, comfortable, and elevated. Neutral tones, soft textures, and clothing with movement tend to photograph beautifully in New Hampshire’s natural scenery. I also help all my couples with outfit guidance before their session.
Almost every couple tells me this before their engagement session. My approach is very relaxed and guided, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands or force stiff poses. The goal is for your photos to feel natural, connected, and genuinely reflective of your relationship.
