Some wedding days feel focused on one thing from the start. For Jess and Corey, that was celebrating with their favorite people. Their Artisan Hotel wedding gave them plenty of room for that. They spent the day surrounded by a huge wedding party and their families. Then, they packed the dance floor with their guests all night.

I first met Jess and Corey through a photography giveaway. The session supported the Layla Lynn Bober Foundation, and they were selected as the winners. We planned their engagement photos at Boston Public Garden and Boston Common.

Boston was an easy choice because it already held meaning for them. Corey proposed near the Parkman Bandstand in Boston Common. We returned to that area during their engagement session on a beautiful fall day.

Their session was relaxed, joyful, and felt very much like them. I loved watching how comfortable Jess and Corey were together. By the end, I knew I would happily photograph them again.

Thankfully, they felt the same way.

They later hired me to photograph their wedding at The Artisan Hotel at Tuscan Village. Getting to photograph this next part of their story was such an honor.

A Modern Wedding at The Artisan Hotel at Tuscan Village

The Artisan Hotel at Tuscan Village is a newer wedding venue in Salem, New Hampshire. Its modern design feels quite different from many classic New England wedding venues.

That modern look worked beautifully for Jess and Corey’s day. Jess wore a clean satin wedding gown from Alexandra’s Boutique. The simple lines of her dress looked especially beautiful against the hotel.

Jess and Corey also chose to spend their full wedding day onsite. Both wedding parties got ready inside the hotel before heading downstairs for the ceremony.

The rooms offered great window light, which is always helpful for wedding photos. With more than 20 people in their wedding party, things were understandably busy upstairs. We kept those photos focused on the people and moments that mattered most.

Their ceremony took place outside on the Grand Lawn. The hotel created a clean, modern backdrop behind their guests.

One thing couples should consider is the direction of midday sunlight here. Depending on the ceremony time, parts of the lawn can have strong or uneven light. A photographer who knows how to work with changing light can help plan around it.

Thankfully, The Artisan Hotel also has several shaded areas nearby. Those spots gave us even light for portraits without leaving the property.

That meant Jess and Corey could enjoy their wedding day without adding extra travel. Their guests could settle into the hotel while we created their portraits just steps away.

Private Vows Before Their Outdoor Ceremony

Before heading outside for their ceremony, Jess and Corey shared private vows together.

This gave them a few minutes alone during an otherwise very social day. With such a large wedding party, those private moments felt even more meaningful.

Corey became emotional while reading his vows to Jess. Before long, I was tearing up behind my camera too.

What stood out most was how excited they both were to get married. There was so much happening around them, yet their focus stayed on each other.

After their vows, it was time to make everything official.

Their guests gathered outside on the Grand Lawn for the ceremony. The modern hotel rose behind them, while greenery surrounded the ceremony space.

The ceremony also showed one benefit of an Artisan Hotel wedding. Everything can happen within a very small area.

Guests staying at the hotel could simply head downstairs for the ceremony. Afterward, cocktail hour and the reception were only steps away.

That setup also gave Jess and Corey more time with their guests. We could create their wedding party and couple portraits without driving elsewhere.

Wedding Portraits Around The Artisan Hotel

We stayed entirely on the Artisan Hotel grounds for their wedding portraits.

The hotel itself ended up being one of my favorite backdrops. Its clean exterior worked beautifully with Jess’s satin gown and Corey’s classic navy suit.

There are also covered and shaded walkways around the property. These became very helpful for portraits during the brighter parts of the day.

Midday light can be tricky at almost any wedding venue; open spaces often create strong highlights and shadows across faces.

Having shaded portrait options nearby gave us much softer, even light. We could also move between locations quickly without pulling Jess and Corey away for long.

The Veranda gave us another beautiful modern setting during the day. Its black framework, clear covering, and greenery create a polished look without feeling overly formal.

Jess and Corey had booked their wedding before the Veranda was built. Their guest count was also too large to move their reception there.

Still, the space became useful throughout their wedding day. Their wedding party gathered there before the ceremony and used it again afterward.

For couples planning a future Artisan Hotel wedding, the Veranda is worth considering. I especially love how its clean design photographs alongside modern wedding attire and simple details.

A Ballroom Reception Made for a Packed Dance Floor

After their ceremony and portraits, everyone headed inside for the reception.

Jess and Corey held their reception in the Artisan Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. The space gave their large guest list plenty of room to celebrate together.

Their wedding had a modern style that felt right at home here. Burnt orange bridesmaid dresses brought warmth into the day. Jess’s satin gown kept her own look simple, elegant, and classic.

Once the formal parts of the reception ended, the party really started.

Jess and Corey wanted a wedding where they could celebrate with everyone they loved. They did not spend their reception watching the party from their seats! They were right in the middle of it.

DJ George Adamakis kept the dance floor packed throughout the night. Jess and Corey spent most of the evening dancing alongside their family and friends.

Later, Jess changed into a second outfit made for dancing. Glow sticks came out, and the celebration kept going.

It was exactly the kind of reception they had hoped to create.

Why The Artisan Hotel Works Well for a Wedding Weekend

One benefit of an Artisan Hotel wedding is how much stays in one place. That can make the day easier for both the couple and their guests.

Jess and Corey got ready, married, photographed, and celebrated without leaving the property. Many of their guests also stayed at the hotel. That meant nobody needed transportation between the ceremony and reception. Guests could check into their rooms and enjoy the wedding without another drive.

Tuscan Village also gives guests dining and shopping options nearby. This can be helpful when many guests are staying for the weekend.

From a photography standpoint, staying onsite can protect time within the wedding schedule too.

We did not lose portrait time driving to another location. Instead, we used the hotel’s exterior, shaded walkways, and modern spaces for their photos.

For couples who want a modern Salem, NH wedding venue, The Artisan Hotel offers plenty within a compact area. Its clean design also gives couples room to bring their own style into the space.

For Jess and Corey, that meant creating a wedding centered around what mattered most to them. They had their favorite people together, plenty of time to celebrate, and a very full dance floor.

Planning an Artisan Hotel Wedding in Salem, NH

After photographing Jess and Corey’s wedding, I can see why The Artisan Hotel appeals to couples. It feels modern and fresh while still giving you several photo options onsite. Having everything close together also helps couples spend more time with their guests.

The hotel has a clean design with plenty of simple lines and neutral spaces. That gives you room to choose wedding details that feel like you. Jess and Corey brought in warmer colors through their wedding party attire. Jess’s sleek satin gown looked especially beautiful against the hotel’s modern exterior.

For portraits, I would plan to use several areas around the hotel. The front of the building photographs beautifully and gives you a strong architectural backdrop. There are also shaded walkways that can be very helpful earlier in the day. Those areas allowed us to create flattering portraits without waiting for softer evening light.

The Grand Lawn is a pretty ceremony option, but sunlight is worth discussing when planning your timeline. Depending on your ceremony time, the lawn can have both bright sun and deep shade. Your photographer can help you think through timing and photo placement before the wedding.

I would also keep the Veranda on your list when touring the property. Its clear covering, black framework, and greenery make it one of my favorite spaces at the hotel. Even though Jess and Corey did not host their reception there, we still used it during their day.

Is The Artisan Hotel a Good Fit for Your Wedding?

I think The Artisan Hotel works especially well for couples who want a modern wedding venue. It also makes sense for couples expecting many guests from outside the Salem area.

Having guest rooms, ceremony spaces, reception spaces, and portrait locations together makes the day easier. Your guests can settle in and enjoy themselves without worrying about traveling between several places.

That was especially helpful for Jess and Corey’s wedding. Their priority was spending time with their family and friends, not disappearing for hours of photos. Staying onsite allowed us to create beautiful portraits while still protecting that time.

And once the dance floor opened, there was no question where they wanted to be.

Jess and Corey spent the rest of their night celebrating alongside the people they loved. After an outfit change, plenty of glow sticks, and hours of dancing, they got exactly the party they had hoped for.

Their Artisan Hotel wedding felt like them from beginning to end. It was modern, joyful, and centered on having their favorite people together.
